BMW calls their coupes, "elegant expressions of individual style and passion, and most automotive enthusiasts would probably agree. Completely redesigned for 2007, today's 3-Series coupe has been renamed the 335i. The crown of the coupe lineup is the 335i xDrive with all-wheel drive and a 300-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. This is BMW's first twin-turbo inline six.
Engineers decided to revive turbocharging, because of recent technical developments. Relatively small turbochargers minimize the dreaded "turbo lag," since they build up pressure much faster than does a single, larger unit. BMW also offers a 328i coupe with a 230-hp, naturally aspirated 3.0-liter six-cylinder that uses magnesium-aluminum construction. Transmission choices for both include a standard six-speed manual gearbox, or an available six-speed Steptronic automatic.
Each model is offered with xDrive, which is BMW's version of all-wheel drive. On smooth, dry roads, xDrive delivers what BMW calls a "sporty, rear-wheel-drive feel," which is precisely what most shoppers are seeking. Along wet or snow-packed roads, on the other hand, xDrive "automatically sends more torque to the axle with more traction," promising helpful front/rear weight balance. Making iDrive an option lets those who favor high-tech control select that unit, but allows those who prefer a simpler, traditional configuration to omit the love-it/hate-it system.
Headlight design, taillamp detailing, outside mirrors and interior appearance were created specifically for coupes. Two-doors feature a long wheelbase, short overhangs, a setback passenger compartment, and a low, sleek roofline. The long hood reflects BMW's tradition of inline six-cylinder engines. Corona light rings that serve as BMW-distinctive daytime running lights accent the standard xenon adaptive headlights.
Rear occupants in the four-passenger coupes have a center console between individual seats with separate storage boxes, additional air outlet vents, and footwell lights. Standard leatherette upholstery comes in Black or Cream Beige, with leather optional. BMW's iDrive controller is an option, too. One helpful feature is the seatbelt feeder arm, which automatically moves forward, presenting the seatbelt to the driver and front passenger when doors are closed and the key inserted. Access to rear seats has been made easier, according to BMW, but it's still a chore for the less agile.
There's nothing the least bit gaudy or garish about a 3 Series coupe, which relies strictly upon clean lines and smooth curves to establish its presence. Performance is precisely as energetic as expected from BMW. The twin-turbo engine has all the go-power anyone will need, available in an instant. In typical BMW form, the manual gearbox shifts with ease and finesse, requiring a mere flick of the wrist. Adeptly matched to the gearbox, BMW's clutch engages with smooth confidence.
Engineers have given the 335i a surprisingly comfortable ride, considering the coupe's impressive level of road-hugging expertise. Rear-drive 3 Series coupes are well known for their sure-footed behavior, but xDrive adds an extra helping of assurance. Ordinarily, there's no evidence of its existence apart from a badge on the fender. When the pavement turns wet or slick, however, it's ready to take action as needed.
Only a slight rumble can be heard from the twin exhaust pipes. Otherwise, the 335i is fairly quiet. Steering feel and response don't get much better, or more satisfying. Particularly comfortable front seats provide sufficient space all around, though the front compartment is a bit on the snug side.
Prices start at $38,125 (including destination charge) for a 328i coupe with rear-wheel drive. For a 335xi coupe with the twin-turbo engine and all-wheel drive, the outlay escalates to $44,625. An automatic transmission adds $1,325. Additional options include Active Cruise Control, rear Park Distance Control, a navigation system, heated front seats, an iPod/USB adapter, and a Premium or Sport Package (including upgraded tires).

If Drivers Won’t Pay Attention, Brakes Will
Next to the steering system, the brakes are the most important system in a car. It is the driver’s most reliable ally when coming to a stop especially at high speeds. To improve brakes’ functions and performance, automotive engineers concentrate on minimizing injuries caused by collisions. These engineers take into consideration the moments before an expected impact.
The stability control systems of vehicles have increasingly become more capable of catching spins before a crash. Nowadays, brakes can be programmed to detect panic stops and use maximum force for undecided drivers. BMW, for one, boasts of its ‘active steering’ that can counter overly aggressive moves of drivers to produce the necessary emergency maneuver. The Infiniti brand also offers an auto safety feature that warns the driver when the car is drifting toward an adjacent lane. This is done to avoid fender-bender occurrences.
Advances in technology also produced systems that put the car into protective mode when sensors indicate a collision is impending. The protective mode cinches down seat belts and closed the sunroof and windows. There are also automakers that are working on using computers that are programmed to decide how aggressively to act depending on how closely the driver is paying attention to the road. So far, the newest braking technology covers brakes that apply on their own when a collision seems likely.
The Acura RL is equipped with the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), which monitors the following distance and closing rate between the RL and the car directly in front of it. The system warns the driver when a collision is forthcoming and helps reduce impact when a collision becomes inescapable. It alerts the driver by giving a warning tone and a flashing light on the dashboard. Then, it gently tugs the driver’s seat belt. Finally, the system applied the brakes forcefully to slow the car. It will happen without any action from the driver to prevent a rear collision. Acura's braking system takes advantage of onboard computers in the car to control features like antilock brakes and pretensioners that pull seat belts taut in case of a collision.
The Lexus Pre-Collision System also operates the same way. When it detects an imminent collision, it retracts the seat belts and primes the brake system so that full braking power will be available immediately. Said system is an option on the Lexus LS and GS models. Volvo brakes already use the system to avoid accidents on the road.
The common denominator of all the pre-emptive braking systems is the adaptive cruise control. Unlike traditional speed controls produced to hold a steady speed, adaptive controls can also maintain a set distance to cars ahead. The car’s motions are in response to measurements from a laser or radar unit. The pre-emptive safety systems utilize existing sensors to monitor cars and stationary objects on the road to evaluate the possibility of a crash.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), of the 6.2 million crashes reported in the United States during 2004, more than 20 per cent were rear impacts. This is the primary reason why automotive engineers have rear end collisions as their logical starting point in creating more functional brakes.
While pre-emptive safety systems are now offered on only a few vehicles, they are expected to become more available in time. Mike Thoeny, an engineer at Delphi, the automotive supplier, said the company was working with several automakers to develop new applications, including systems that use a camera to differentiate moving objects from stationary ones. “By the end of the decade pre-emptive safety systems will also monitor the driver and tailor responses based on alertness, issuing a warning sooner if the driver's eyes are not on the road. We have this technologically ready today," Thoeny concluded. "It's simply a matter of integrating it into the vehicle."

how do you fix the onboard video adapter on a pc if it brakes off?
on my PC the onboard video adapter broke completely off the motherboard. I went to BestBuy and explain what happen. The dude suggested that I buy a graphics card to fix it. I installed the card but it isnt reading it. I read the installation manual and it said i have to disable the onboard video adapter first, but I cant because I am unable to see. So is there any way that I cant access my PC via network either over the internet or ethernet cord so I can get into the control panel and disable it and install? I am on my laptop doing this, so basically I am asking if I can use my laptop as a screen and access it as stated above, or anything?? PLEASE HELP!!!
1st option) Try contacting the place at which you got it, or the manufacture of the mother board. See if you can send it for repair. Yes this may take a while to send out the board, them fix it and ship it back, but its almost guaranteed fix.
2nd option) either you or find a friend who has proper soldiering skills to try and temperately wire the original jack or find a scrap VGA cord and hard wire it to the mobo. Then go into BIOS and change the PCI settings concerning VIDEO, and change the boot order to PCI before IGA or IGN. This will tell bios to first check the PCI slots for a video adapter and will show bios on it.
If the mobo is cracked or broken where the VGA plug was located. Resort to option 1, or advance to option 3, Replace the mobo.
As for some sort of network ablity. None that I know of for the BIOS. You could do something in windows, but thats assuming you had some sort of remote desktop program already setup, and that drivers auto install with the new video card. But wont solve the problem of you not being able to get into bios.
