What type brake pad is long lasting and wont leave black residue?

I have a 2006 Dodge ram and i have been looking for some better brake pad that what were installed from the factory. I would like some that doesnt leave the black dust and are a little quieter. Is the ceramic type best? What would you recommend?

ceramic pads r best,, just make sure u put some type of antivibration goop on the rear opf the pads before u install them, and grease them pins,, Art

That's not always the case, some of us do check our brakes. Matter of fact I had my (reliable) mechanic tune up my car and even check my brakes last week. Two days ago I crashed due to BRAKE FAILURE!!! This was WITHOUT warning and should NEVER happen.
