Right before the official date for the beginning of summer, some Chevrolet car dealers will have the privilege to sell the all-new Corvette ZR1.

Although some are grateful and happy to receive them, the dealers are also frustrated since they have more buyers than cars to sell.

There are over 3,900 Chevrolet dealers nationally but approximately 330 dealers will be given the ZR1. To be eligible to receive the superfast ZR1 car, a dealer needs to have been a high-volume retailer and have sold a lot of corvettes each year. Over 100+ should qualify a dealer. If you're a small dealer and sell less than 50 Corvettes annually, you may be disappointed that you are not on the list.

The all-new ZR1 begins at $105,000 including shipping and taxes. The 6.2-liter V-8 is puts out 638 horses. The car should move from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 205 miles per hour, which makes it the quickest Corvette ever built.

According to GM spokesman, giving the ZR1 to smaller dealers is impractical because of the high price tag and dealers must also pay for special training and equipment to service the car.

Some features of the long awaited ZR1 is the superior power to weight ratio versus Ferrari 599, Porsche GT2, and Lamborghini's Murcielago due to some of the weight being pushed forward to give it a 52/48 front-to-rear ratio. The new Corvette is said to weigh roughly 200 pounds more than the Z06. A significant change in the car is in its adjustable suspension system which is GM's Magnetic Selective Ride Control (MSRC). The system adjusts each millisecond and not only provides the motorist with sharp maneuverability when driving aggressively but also a soft luxurious ride while cruising on the open highway. In fact, Corvette engineer's say the MSRC damping control gives the ZR1 a less stiff rider the Z06.

Other noteworthy improvements included are Brembo calipers which tightly grip large carbon-ceramic rotors. Yes, these are the same ones made for Ferrari's Enzo and FXX. The CCM is required due to the ZR1 having the largest wheel width and diameter of any Corvette produced. The wheels measure in at 19 inches in front and in the back at 20 inches. Sounds so impressive that it'll make every Chevrolet corvette dealer and current exotic car owner want to test drive one. Who could resist power and speed from a muscle car like this, neither the dealer nor the consumer. However, patience will prevail for corvette enthusiasts.

i have a sentra gxe 2003 but my car has a regular calipers i was wonder if i can use the brembo calipers that the sentra spec v come with it

Yes if you want the brembo calipers also change master Cly, rotors and wheels because the 15" standard wheels won't fit over those large calipers. Have you made the car that much faster that you need the additional braking? Many of my owners prefer the STOP-TECH brake systems. Brembo pads and rotors are expensive to replace.
