When we are in the process of bugging out to our retreat do we really need a spacious home with all the luxuries that we are used to? After all modern inventions tend to use vast sums of energy in order to run properly.

 

There have been many folks in our history who accomplished a great deal with the bare minimum of space. Imagination also provides each of us with the ability to do a lot with so little while making maximum use of products for which the use we employ may not necessarily be that for which the item was designed for.

 

Simplicity is often the key to inexpensive survival. You can find even today that many of the areas within the Ozarks use electricity that is produce by a small generator or perhaps even a very strong car battery. These are not rich people by any stretch of the imagination and as such they have learned to conserve each and every penny that they have. Naturally their homes are not equipped with all the modern appliances that we have in ours. They have a fairly small home with few rooms.

 

They may even have a windmill that provides them with a sufficient amount of electric power for lights and possibly a refrigerator all for the small sum of $5,000. If you boast your expenses a bit to the $10 grand mark you may even be able to include a water pump system that operates your nearby well.

 

If you plan to use a windmill system it would be well for you to adhere to some simple hints. To be effective a windmill system will usually require a constant source of wind so this is one item to bear in mind when figuring out your power requirements for your retreat. These windmills would be set up to recharge a series of battery packs that provide the energy to several of your most important pieces of equipment.

 

If you have too much wind in your vicinity it is likely that you will want to install a brake on your windmill in order to stop it every now and then. Windmills should be shut down if there is a bit too much wind to turn the blades.

 

There are many ways that we can possibly downsize when we are initially designing our bug out retreats. Since at this point we may have decided that we do not require such large quarters to live in then space is certainly at a premium. An interesting concept that has been employed by people in the past is the idea of under-floor storage.

 

Under floor storage is something that you should plan for when you are initially drawing up the plans for your retreat home. You could very easily dig a hole and wall it up with concrete blocks. It would serve several purposes for storage as well as for emergency locations from adverse weather. The trap door would lead to the flooring above in the main room which could have a throw carpet placed over it to essentially hide it from prying eyes.

 

If you have the extra funds and you really wish to get fancy you could easily include one or two of the steel shipping boxes. They could very simply be constructed to provide a good emergency home. The boxes usually cost in the vicinity of $12,000 dollars each. Although at the size that they are you may end up using at least two of them.

 

So as you can see it is possible to obtain a basic but affordable home for use as your emergency retreat.

How Car Brakes and Power Slot Rotors Showed Sasquatch the Way

I am a city-boy, born and bred. Early on, my parents moved to New York, and while growing up, all I knew were skyscrapers, traffic and noise. I always felt comforted to be surrounded by the masses and I knew anything I would ever want or need would be found close at hand.

When I grew up, the story was much the same. I remained in the Big Apple and got a job in investment banking. Throughout this time laughed at my “hick” friends who chose to move to the Deep South, or to some small Midwestern prairie-town…

One ordinary day at the office, I was working in my cubicle when the boss came down for a visit.

“You boys are doing a great job, and our profits have never been better,” he said. “But ultimately, the key to a well run corporation is the bond between employees. That’s why all of you are going on a ‘back to nature’ trip!”

I groaned.

The management and several departments all flew out to a secluded area in the forest. On the first day of the trip we had to practice falling backwards and into the arms of a co-worker as a trust-building exercise. Later, we put on war-paint and chanted: “Efficiency, Productivity, Profitability” over and over while dancing around a fire. We swung across rivers and ate bugs and listened to motivational pep talks.

I was completely sick of the experience and decided to walk around for a while to clear my head. When everyone was busy I snuck away from the group and went into the woods, despite warnings I had heard about the dreaded Sasquatch.

I wandered around randomly, feeling sorry for myself. I greatly missed my city and my old life with all its pollution, sirens and plumbing. There had to be a way to get out, but how…?

Suddenly I heard an unearthly roar shake the trees.

I looked up and came face to face with the Sasquatch! He looked just like Chewbacca and was covered with mud and twigs. I screamed and turned to run.

“Wait friend,” said the beast, “You have nothing to fear.”

Shocked, I turned and contemplated the hairy monster, which had its arms outstretched and a kind smile on its muzzle.

“You can talk!” I said, amazed. “How can this be?”

“Allow me to explain, good sir,” he said.

It turned out that the Sasquatch was actually a guy named Harold. He had worked for a large corporation, and like me, had been brought out to the woods for a back to nature trip. Somehow he had gotten separated from the group and became hopelessly lost. He had thus begun his new life in the woods, foraging and trying his best to survive. He had also somehow grown a thick fur covering, but I didn’t have the time to question him how.

“So Harold,” I asked, “How come you never left the forest?”

“I tried, but my car wouldn’t start.”

He showed me his battered Chevy. I took a look under the hood and found the problem.

“This is no big deal,” I said, “You just need a few adjustments.”

I helped him with the repairs and soon we were both zooming down the highway, I on my way back to the city, and Harold on the way back to resuming the human experience.

How much should somone pay to have a 69 bug rewired?

It has never been rewired and looks like the wiring under the hood threw-up. brake lights do not work, or turn signals, e-lights..etc...

I would guess a few hundred because I know for fact they sell the whole wiring harness. The other thing is the wiring is very easy to get to. Try buying the harness before hand if you are doing the whole wiring and find some one honest Check HotVWs magazine and contact part sellers. Good luck.

What things have gone wrong with the car? As yet nothing has gone wrong with the car, but I have trouble shifting into and out of low4.At the 3000k service I explained this to the service tecnition and got a demo on how to shift correctly.
