Temp gauge seldom goes beyond 1st quarter mark in my car. What's wrong, temp sensor or thermostat?
I have a 2000 chevy venture. recently changed the water pump and gasket because the coolant was leaking from the engine. The temperature gauge in my car usually indicated at mid section between C and H. Now, the gauge indicates towards C near the 1st quarter mark and rarely goes beyond that. Is it the coolant temp sensor or the thermostat that I need to change? or is there other problem that i am not aware of?

did you bleed it properly when you filled it? there are 2 little bleeder screw for the cooling system that need to be cracked open when you fill that vehicle, is your heat blowing as hot as it used to? if you are sure its been properly bled and you not getting heat, I'd say t-stat, if you heat is as hot as it always was then temp sensor
