The Boxster Spyder launched in 2008 was much like its previous versions with very few changes; here's an insight.

2008 Spyder Specifications

Coming to specifications, 2008 Spyder had its engine placed in the middle of two seats. The above mentioned design is much like Porsche's Cayman hatchback coupe along with rear and front cargo compartments. Additionally, it had soft top that can be folded automatically.

2008 Boxster Spyder was available in Base and S trim levels. Base models were equipped with 245-horsepower 2.7-L six-cylinder engine, while the S trim was marketed with 295-horsepower 3.4-L engine.

The RS 60 Spyder limited edition was available with 303-horsepower 3.4-L engine, added with a performance suspension. All the trims had the choice of manual as well as automatic transmission.

Standard Offerings

2008 Spyder was equipped with several standard features including traction control system, ABS, antiskid system and side air bags to protect torso and head. It was also loaded with optional goodies like navigation system, Porsche's Sport Chrono Package, along with a dashboard stopwatch.

It had a special shift knob, and another innovative inclusion for 2008 was the three-pod stand-up instrument cluster, which saved you from the clustered instrument panel, and made the life of driver a lot easier.

All variants had good deal of silver accents inside, and the special retro edition of Boxster Spyder brought home the good old nostalgic memories of Carrerra and the likes of it.

On the whole, it was a fun-filled classy launch from the house of Porsche with a tinge of retro touch combined with world-class amenities.
