Here are some more information for Delphi Brake:

The Chrysler Group bidding continues to elicit an overwhelming hype and scorching heat in the automotive industry. Lately, suitors of the ailing American division of DaimlerChrysler AG have given their bids. And the second round of 'refined' bids is expected to be offered this week at the high-level management and supervisory board meetings.
According to a source familiar with the process, 'refined' bids likely to include firm financial details are due by mid-week. The offer of the bids is just in time for DCX's governing supervisory board to discuss details at its Wednesday meeting. Board members include the United Auto Workers (UAW) President Ron Gettelfinger.
Bidders, on the other hand, expected to include the Cerberus Capital Management, whose team includes Wolfgang Bernhard, the former Chrysler COO, as well as other former Ford Motor Co. executives. Cerberus is reported to be the leading bidder. Also in the pool of Chrysler's bidders is the duo of Blackstone, Wall Street's top private equity firm, and the Centerbridge Partners. Also, there's Magna International Inc., the Canadian parts supplier, which ventured with Onex.
"Whoever ends up with Chrysler would have Daimler as a minority shareholder for some period," said a ranking source familiar with the bidding. "But I don't foresee them being involved in the day-to-day management of the company."
Is the purchase deal shaping up? What about Chrysler's $18 billion health care liability? Analysts expect a scenario that envisions the UAW finally delivering Chrysler similar health care deal it has given GM and Ford thus saving as much as $400 million annually.
Furthermore, the parties would negotiate a deal inspired by a landmark pact at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. According to the pact, the company would pay the union a lump sum to assume health care liabilities.
"Chrysler is not in bad shape," the ranking source said. "The recovery plan is achievable. Their product plan is in reasonably good shape." The issue is debatable. What is not arguable is the frantic handicapping about which group, whether Cerberus, the Blackstone-Centerbridge or Magna, may be chosen by DCX's ranking brass.
Gettelfinger, for instance, has been frank about his displeasure that private equity firms determined to make money are bidding to acquire the ailing Chrysler from its impatient German parent. Job one for the union is to keep Chrysler in the Daimler family, he told WJR-AM 760 Friday.
Another person close to the process said that DaimlerChrysler is poring over the bids and asking for more specifics as it moves toward picking a partner. In the previous weeks, Cerberus was considered the lead bidder on the strength of Bernhard. But the plight's brakes appear equipped with reliable EBC pads. Cerberus' sudden egress from Delphi, troubles at GDX and taut public resistance from union leaders are prompting speculation that Magna could emerge as a front-runner. Or maybe not. Chrysler's suitors are quick to downplay conjecture that their offer is a leading bid.

Delphi Uaw Members Ok Wage-cut Pact
Nearly 70 percent of Delphi Corp. workers approved a deal between the UAW and the bankrupt parts supplier that will give workers cash payouts in exchange for slashed wages, the United Auto Workers recently announced.
Workers represented by Delphi's largest union have approved a historic pact that slashes wages for longtime employees of the auto parts manufacturer but secures thousands of jobs at plants that once were in danger. The ratification announced last Friday comes after two years of controversial negotiations and averts a threatened strike that could have crippled Delphi's biggest customer and former parent, General Motors Corp.
The pact will make the auto parts supplier more competitive as it tries to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It comes only weeks prior to the UAW started contract talks with GM, the Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group. The pact will step on the brakes regarding matters involving workers’ uncertainty.
Delphi has about 6,000 workers in Ohio, including nearly 4,000 in Dayton. "The ratification vote at GM's former parts operation is complete and the agreement was accepted by the membership. The total vote was 68 percent to accept the agreement, 32 percent to reject it," said a statement by UAW President Ron Gettelfinger and UAW Vice President Cal Rapson.
At Delphi Steering, the largest plant in Saginaw, 83.5 percent of those who belong to UAW Local 699 voted yes, said local President Mike Hanley. The plant has about 2,200 workers and about 1,800 voted, he said. At Delphi Chassis, 79 percent voted in favor of the contract, Local 467 President Jim Hurren said. The plant has about 680 workers and more than 90 percent voted. Hurren added the tally at the Saginaw steering plant was big enough to counter the no vote in Lockport, N.Y., where workers voted it down 1,107-274.
"There's a few disgruntled people out there, but they're not living in the real world," said Hurren, who believes the agreement is good for the workers, because it preserves jobs and offers numerous benefits for workers who would see their wages cut.
A deal is key to eliminating the threat of a strike at Delphi that threatened to injure GM, Delphi's former parent and currently its largest customer. It also is crucial to the sealing of a $3.4 billion recapitalization offered by determined outside investors.
The new contract will allow Delphi to reduce its overhead substantially, as it bids to compete with lower-cost international suppliers. The agreement includes a total payout of $105,000 over three years that will be offered to about 4,000 of Delphi's 17,000 UAW workers. In return, the workers' pay will be cut from about $27 an hour to a maximum of $18.50 an hour by Oct. 1. Supplemental and temporary employees who leave the company will get severance pay of $1,500 for every month worked, up to $40,000.
Under the wage-cut pact Delphi will close four fewer plants than originally intended. The company also plans to close or consolidate into other facilities plants in Coopersville; Columbus, Ohio; two in Milwaukee; Anderson, Ind.; and Wichita Falls, Texas.
Workers at the Columbus plant voted 209-21 in favor of the pact, while members of Local 651 at Delphi's Flint East plant voted 94 percent in favor. In Athens, Ala., workers at the north Alabama plant, scheduled to close in 2009, approved the pact 508-353, a union official said.
At the Needmore Road brake plant in Dayton, Ohio, workers voted 428-98 in favor of the agreement Thursday. Though the agreement lasts four years, Local 696 president Joe Buckley said that it "guarantees" 750 local jobs through 2015.

anyone else heard of the VW brake sensor switch causing car to not go out of park?
Has happened to me twice in the past year and had to be towed and fixed...talked to the dealership this morning and the guy in service said that, in fact, this is something they have had extreme problems with by several VW owners!!!!! It's a switch made by Delphi which is owned by GM according to the dealer...he said there has been a lot of concern over the safety issue with getting stranded due to our car not going out of park (kinda like me yesterday--4 1/2 hours!!!). My question is this...if it is such an issue and if there is really concern about it, shouldn't they tell their customers???!!!
It is indeed a common problem.
The switch prevents you from shifting out of gear because your brake must be depressed in order to shift out of gear and VW wasn't smart enough to put a shift override switch on their transmissions.
The switch itself is not cheap. "It's self adjusting" and made with too much plastic. Which is why it breaks easily.
Also the switch is easy to install incorrectly. I've heard of even dealerships that don't know how to install them correctly. And they are easy to install incorrectly.
I had to do a lot of research on-line, read various posts and even dis-assemble the brake sensor to understand why it broke.
I have the proper installation instructions at home and I'll post the link here this evening since I'm at work now.
This will allow you to do it yourself it you want. If you're willing to keep an extra sensor in your car it will also prevent you from getting stuck. It's not hard to replace yourself, but you MUST follow instructions exactly. Specifically when to turn the body of the sensor. If you turn the body of the sensor too early it will cause the switch to break easily.
The switch is not made by GM, they are just telling you this to keep you from purchasing a GM vehicle.
It is made by VW/Audi, they are just passing blame. That's really sad.
