Are you old enough to remember those Toyota "Oh, what a feeling!" ads, which featured satisfied customers literally jumped for joy into the air? Well, recently makers and buyers of Toyota vehicles haven't had much to celebrate. But this hasn't been the first massive auto recall, and it likely won't be the last one either. Here are some of the largest auto recalls in the United States:
1. Ford (7.9 million vehicles in 1996)
This recall involved the ignition switch. Ford revealed that it could overheat, causing it to either smoke or even catch fire. Ford recalled most models built from 1988-1993.
2. General Motors (6.7 million vehicles in 1971)
The vehicles' engine mounts could break, thus causing the engine to shift around and the throttle to become jammed. The recall involved several Chevrolet models built from 1965-1969.
3. General Motors (5.8 million vehicles in 1981)
A single bolt linking the car's front suspension to the vehicle could break. This could cause the vehicle's suspension to fail quickly. The company recalled all mid-size cars manufactured from 1978-1981.
4. Toyota (5.4 million vehicles in 2009)
Interestingly, this recall involved floor mats. It was discovered that they could trap the pedal and cause the vehicle to accelerate inadvertently. Then in 2010, Toyota recalled 2.3 million vehicles, due to gas pedal problems.
5. Ford (4.5 million vehicles in 2005)
This recall involved the mechanism used for cruise-control on various full-size trucks that Ford produced. Models involved included the Bronco, Expedition, F-150, F-250, Navigator, and Lincoln Blackwood.
6. Ford (4.5 million vehicles in 2009)
The company discovered that the cruise-control apparatus on various vehicles could smoke up after overheating, or even catch fire. The recall included various models, ranging from Super Duty pickups, to Explorers.
7. Ford (4 million vehicles in 1972)
A plastic piece contained in the workings of the seatbelt buckles could cause the seatbelts to release during an accident. As a result, Ford recalled all Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln cars and trucks manufactured from 1970-1971.
8. General Motors (3.7 million vehicles in 1973)
Government officials discovered that when driving quickly over gravel, gravel shooting into the engine's housing could cause the steering gear to malfunction. GM mounted shields on its full-size models produced from 1971-1973.
9. Volkswagen (3.7 million vehicles in 1972)
U.S. officials discovered that a bolt connecting the car's windshield wiper to a shaft could become loose and create a safety issue for the driver while on the road. The recall included every Volkswagen sold in the United States, from 1949-1969.
10. Honda (3.7 million vehicles in 1995)
Faulty seatbelts created a situation that would have prevented them from functioning properly, during an accident. Honda discovered that pieces of the seatbelt's release button could break and fall into the buckle, in various situations. The result was a massive recall, which included all models manufactured from 1986-1991.
So while Toyota's latest recall is one of the largest ones of all time, it's not quite the granddaddy of them all. The bottom line is that auto recalls are a necessary evil in order to maintain public safety.

Space Navigation: Single Viewpoints vs Collective Viewpoint
The single viewpoint of a man in often incorrect by a wide margin because he is viewing from a single point in time and space from a relative perspective. The collective viewpoints of many humans represent a triangulation of viewpoints which gives much greater accuracy and precise information. This is how mankind will navigate great distances in space and time in the future. The collective mind of our intuitive and mental calculations will provide the primary means of navigation in deep space when linear technologies of light and mathematics fail to produce accurate results.

The consciousness of man connects with the inner consciousness of God to provide a multi viewpoint of reality. These multi viewpoints are used to triangulate the beginning and end positions to a high degree of accuracy. When linear technology fails human explorers over vast distances of time and space then human triangulation of multi viewpoints will be the only means of navigation.

The physical universe of light works similar to the human mind and is a mass cosmic mind of light energies. Only fear and strong emotions shortcuit the correct functioning of the human mind but fear and emotions can not harm the cosmic mind of light energies.

The mystics are correct when they say the univese of matter and light is the universe of God. For the workings of the the universe are the workings of mind -- the mind of God in which we live. This is a virtual reality of the physical universe we call home or our physical reality.

Many expeditions of human explorers will be lost in time and space because they do not understand the importance of this concept and make use of it. Space colonization will one day become a reality soon enough. But great losses will be made by those who depend only upon linear technology to guide them. The technology of the mind and of multi viewpoints must become widely known so that one day they may find it and apply it to return home to Earth.

This concept of multi viewpoints was used to find a submarine lost in the relatively vast Atlantic Ocean. When all estimates of the the position of the lost submarine were averaged and combined then the result was only 220 yards from where the submarine was actually found. Generally the more viewpoints that are given to estimate the greater the accuracy.

This concept of the collective consciousness of man is what our modern societies are built upon. We decide the collective rightness or wrongness of an act collectively and then pass laws to enforce it upon the majority. In this way cultures evolve collectively and very slowly as the precision of the status quo is maintained. But great teachers see from the cosmic viewpoints of consciousness. Expanded awareness from meditation and contemplation provides a greater expanded viewpoint of reality which can be useful in navigating reality. This daily technology of expanded awareness in contemplation and mediation is the basis of most all great human advancements of mankind. It is the only technology that can keep mankind from living in daily ignorance and great spiritual poverty. --J.E. Ante
