Here are some more information for Extended Steel:

Life would be so easy if we all had unlimited dollars or a tooth fairy to gift us all the best in bike part technology, but the truth is we must make choices. So what we really want to know is whether the hype about ceramic ball bearings in bottom brackets, hubs and headsets are really worth the added expense or is this just another expensive gadget that is great to talk about at the bar?
Ceramics are pretty new to the bicycle industry but have been used for many years industrially for cutting tools, turbines and even in satellites and Formula 1 Racing.
So what's the big deal?
Thermal Expansion:
Ceramic expands and contracts with changes in temperature 35% less than steel, so the various components of a traditional bearing can be made to tighter tolerance, offering cyclist less vibration and smoother motion.
Less Conductivity:
Ceramics are electrically NON-conductive, and chemically inert, thus do not suffer from oxidation and the rust that degrades the surface of a traditional steel ball bearing.
Weight Reduction:
Silicon nitride ceramic balls are only about 40% of the weight of bearing steel. Less weight equals less rotating mass, making speed, acceleration and deceleration possible with less effort.
Modulus of Elasticity:
That's just a fancy way to test how easy it is to deform something. Ceramic is 50% harder, so it takes a lot of work to alter its original shape.
So what does this mean to a company like FSA that has chosen to make some of its bike parts with ceramic bearing? Studies by a number of cycling magazines, FSA and even bearing companies like SKF have repeatedly shown extended life expectancy and reduced drag. The actual test results are posted at myWheelsAndMore.com.
So what's not to like? Only the higher pricing. Ceramic Bearings are easy to justify with longer life, more speed and vibration free operation but at maybe five times the price of traditional bearings the questions still remains as to whether your level of cycling can justify the added cost of this particular bicycle part?

Telescopic Steel Batons - Small But Mighty
Telescopic Steel Batons ultimately have only one job to do – they make an attacker wish he had never attacked you!
In these dangerous times and especially with the economy in distress, there is even more chance than ever that you will be attacked by some thug wanting your money or worse.
Now with your Telescopic Steel Baton you can feel safe and secure while walking down the street or in a dark parking lot and even in your own house.
Some advantages of a Telescopic Steel Baton are:
1) Steel Batons are lightweight so that you can hit the attacker again and again. A lot of people say they would use a baseball bat – just remember, you probably only get one swing with the bat and if you miss…
2) You get the chance to hit the attacker where you want – he’ll be more ready to listen to reason and run away after being hit once or twice with your Steel Baton, especially if you tell him “the next one is in the face”.
3) You don’t have to be strong to handle one -- Anyone can handle a Telescopic Steel Baton with practice, regardless of how big you are or how much you weigh. They generally come in 3 different sizes to match your body stature.
4) However, you do have to practice snapping your Steel Baton into the extended locking position -- that’s what makes it telescopic. The Baton closes to approximately 7-12 inches, depending on the extended size. Sometimes it’s best to carry it snapped and fully extended for instant use, especially if you’re in a closed place like a dark parking lot. The attacker will never see it coming!
One other thing – it’s a good idea to carry a Personal Alarm with you along with your Telescopic Steel Baton so that you can attract a lot of attention if you happen to be attacked. The Personal Alarm is very loud! More witnesses mean a better chance of your attacker being caught by the police.
Don’t be the next crime statistic! A Telescopic Steel Baton will keep you safe and secure from any would-be bad guy who wants to cause you trouble.
If you truly want to stay ahead of your attacker you need a Telescopic Steel Baton. For more information , please visit our website http://www.feelsafeandsecure.com/telescopic_steel_batons.html and Don’t Be the Next Victim.

Son in steel boned orthopaedic corset for spinal disorder should wear it 23 hours a day will not conform?
On recent posts to this question one answer was to see his doctor which we had done a few times but with no outcome, this time I was lucky we actually got to see his consultant who was not at all impressed him not wearing it as prescribed. He decided he now needed a new corset as he had nearly outgrown this one. The new one was fitted yesterday and they have put through the lace eyelets those plastic bag tie that once fastened have to be cut off to release, this has worked. His new corset is more extensive than his previous in being it stil goes to underarm but also as padded straps over his shoulders. It still extends right down onto his buttocks but is lower at its front. The boning is still rigid moulded steels and it is worn just as tight. The problem now is because it is strapped over his shoulders and made lower sitting down on anything but a high chair is extreamily difficult for him, bending is practically nil. Any idias for him to be able to use a table or desk to work at.
I didn't have to wear 23 hours a day but when I had to wear for 12 hours a day (after dinner til I wake up in the morning)
I put pillow on the chair so I could sit down better ... Today they have those office chair with comfortable sitting and height adjustment ... That would help too ...
Does he have a waterbed ? The ones that comes in tubes? (there is 2 kinds of waterbed) It did help me sleep better when I had the brace on
Hope I was helpful
