Part six of the volleyball terms study guide for blocking is where I define what it means to one-on-one block, swing block and triple block.

As I've mentioned before, the block is the first line of defense used to attempt to keep your opponent from spiking successfully into your court.

The terms discussed in this article deal with more advanced blocking skills where players use different ways to position themselves on the court in order to perform a successful block or to take away a significant amount of area so that they direct the balls right to their teammates playing defensive behind them.

one-on-one block - The one-on-one blocking scenario is created when a hitter has to hit against only one blocker from the opposing team in a rally. This is an ideal situation which a team's setter always works to try and create because in a one-on-one situation typically the hitter holds the advantage of being able to get the ball past one blocker.

swing block - The traditional ready position for a player to perform a block is to start in front of their hitter with their entire body facing the net, with their hands and open palms at shoulder level facing the hitter, ready to move laterally with a side step or a cross over step that they use to travel along their side of the net. With the swing block, in order to move laterally along the net to get positioned in front of the hitter, the blocker turns their body perpendicular to the net, facing the direction they intend to travel with their hands positioned below the net down by their waist. As they move to the outside to block, they will square their shoulders and upper torso to the net, "swinging" their arms and hands up which helps them gain momentum to reach up and over to penetrate the plane of the net to block the hitter.

triple block - A triple block is a three-person block formed with the intention of preventing the opposing team's spiker from spiking the ball into their court. It's formed when both outside blockers come to the middle to block a ball in unison with the middle blocker or when the middle blocker and one of the two outside blockers travel along the net to join the remaining outside player in order to create a triple block against a hitter during a rally.

For many homeowners, remodeling or upgrading their existing home remains an appealing option in an uncertain real estate market. The question is, which projects offer the best return on investment in the long run?

That said, which projects not only provide comfort and style, but also offer a good long-term return on your investment? Using Remodeling Magazine’s 2007 Cost vs. Value Report for the New England region as a basis, a minor kitchen remodel, which would include a mid grade replacement of existing plumbing fixtures, would recoup an 86% return on investment (ROI.) A major mid range kitchen remodel, with features such as a double stainless-steel sink and a center island, would deliver a 77.7% ROI. An upscale kitchen remodel, utilizing elements such as designer fixtures, and a built-in water filtration system, would have an ROI of 76.7%

A mid-range bathroom remodel that would include the replacement of all plumbing fixtures, would deliver a 74.8% return on investment, while a midrange bathroom addition would yield an ROI of 65.8%. An upscale bathroom remodel, which would expand the bathroom within the existing footprint of the house, relocating all fixtures to accommodate a whirlpool and separate shower, would result in a 64.3% ROI, while an upscale bathroom addition, increasing the footprint of the house, would have an ROI of 64.1%

Once you decide what improvements you would like to pursue, don’t forget the basics when planning an upgrade or remodeling project. Research contractors by license number to make sure that they ARE licensed, and to see if any complaints have been filed against them. References should also be readily available and should be checked for verification. Also, don’t forget to ask for a copy of the contractor's insurance binder.

Have to replace a front wheel hub Assembly and a heater control, can it be done by owner?

I have done some work on my cars, oil change, brake pads, etc. but a wheel hub (front left) assembly and a heater control, are these items that can be done (somewhat) easily, or best left for a local repair shop (1997 Rivera)?

Yes, Both are fairly easy to replace if you have some mechanical ability.
When you say Heater control, are you referring to the Control head in the Dash?

The Labor manual says the left front Wheel hub is a .9 of an hour job and the Heater control head is a .6 of an hour job. Not very hard.
