There's a big controversy going on among Land Rover Discovery drivers. The question is whether it is better to use genuine OEM (original equipment manufacturer) Land Rover parts or so-called "aftermarket" replacement parts for the Discovery. As always, there are pros and cons on both sides of the argument, and there is even some confusion about which parts should be called "OEM" parts in the first place.
In general, aftermarket or third-party parts for the Land Rover Discovery usually come from independent suppliers, and often cost less than so-called "genuine" or OEM parts. Genuine OEM parts, on the other hand, must be purchased through an authorized Land Rover dealer. It is true that OEM parts can often be more expensive than aftermarket parts, but they also have a reputation for being more durable and are built to the exact factory specifications. So which choice should you make?
If cost is your primary consideration, it makes sense to at least compare third-party Land Rover Discovery parts. Another important consideration is how critical the part is. For example, if you are replacing a small part, not of critical importance on your Discovery, then you could be safe going with an aftermarket or third-party parts.
But on the other hand, if you are replacing critical parts, such as steering stabilizers or a rear end differential, you probably do not want to risk trying an aftermarket or "off-brand" supplier for these critical Rover parts.
No matter whether you decide to go for genuine OEM parts or aftermarket parts, you'll likely find the best deals on Land Rover Discovery parts by shopping online. There are now dozens of Land Rover parts distributors online, and you can quickly locate any specific part you need in just a few seconds from the comfort of your own home.
But not only is it more convenient to shop for parts online for your Land Rover Discovery, it can also save you big money. Online parts suppliers are the closest thing to buying wholesale Rover parts you will find. By eliminating the salespeople, warehouse and retail storefront, online suppliers are often able to sell Land Rover parts at significant discounts, and occasionally, you'll even find free shipping available on certain Discovery parts.
It's also much faster to look for your Land Rover Discovery parts online than to call or drive around town in search of what you need. Nearly all of the parts suppliers online have search functions integrated into their web sites. The search function will allow you to find the exact part you are looking for in a fraction of a second. And if the supplier does not have the part you need, you'll find out quickly, without having to wait for someone to "go check in the back."
Shopping online for parts is the easiest way to keep your Land Rover Discovery in show room condition, while saving you both time and money.

Toyota Parts - Quality At Its Peak
High prices of gas and diesel fuel has forced automobile manufacturers to innovate by coming up with solutions and thinking outside the box. In the case of the Toyota Motor Company, the Japanese Auto making giant, parts like the Toyota Highlander parts are carefully designed to maximize fuel efficiency while remaining affordable.
In a well-planned calibrated and redesigned move adopted by the company, which will certainly be adopted by other automakers, the Toyota Motor Company plans to offer to its customers a high output engine as standard equipment. The engine is equipped with four-cylinders in all new SUV models after 2009.
Toyota Highlander parts are available with all its dealers, especially models that were introduced into the market since 1990, and since the Highlander was launched in 2001, getting parts is simple. Genuine Toyota parts are available with authorized dealers of the Toyota Motor company, as some aftermarket Toyota Highlander spare parts bought from unauthorized and unreliable sources may turn out to be fakes or used material spares.
With a massive increase in cars and SUVs, more and more aftermarket auto spare part dealers have emerged in the market, which stock and readily provide replacements for auto spares for different every Toyota vehicle available. They also stock and offer accessories like car stereos, safety air bags, tires and a variety of other aftermarket products that are designed to improve the car's performance. There are accessories and parts that increase safety, improve mileage, give better fuel efficiency, and enhance the look of vehicles.
The parts manufactured for the Toyota Highlander are made of tough, shock proof material and because the SUV has been built with the concept of driving both in the cities and through rugged mountainous terrain, they are highly durable, reliable and do not give away easily. Nevertheless, at the same time the Highlander needs to be maintained well and must be periodically serviced to achieve smooth effortless driving and get optimal performance and longevity. Even the very best Toyota Highlander parts in the world will fail to operate properly if they are not well maintained and cared for.
It's important that Toyota parts are installed correctly in order for them to work as promised. Make sure that even if you have purchased high quality genuine Toyota parts, you get them installed by a certified mechanic who really knows what they are doing. If parts are not correctly installed, they can fail to function properly and may even cause expensive damage to your vehicle.
If you decide to install parts yourself, precisely follow the instructions given and carefully test the part once it has been installed to ensure that it is firmly in place and that it is operating as it should. If you find that it is shaky or that it is not working as promised, it's important that you take it to a mechanic right away. You are better off paying a little bit to have your parts installed right then to have pay a ton for a new car!

What does rust in the engine of a car signify and will it affect the overall running of the vehicle?
I've been after buying a used car for a while and found the perfect one in the autotrader. It is an 02 reg civic and absolutely immaculate on the outside and the interior, i fell in love with it. However, on closer inspection on opening the bonnet i found that there was a lot of rust on the nuts/bolts/pipes and various other places. The guy selling it is a trade dealer and bought it from RRG Toyota to sell on, he seemed really genuine. The car has only had 1 owner and has full Honda service history. The mileage is quite high for a 5 year old car, 83,000 but it was a company car so i'm assuming it is mostly motorway miles. The only thing that is stopping me from buying it is the rust in the engine, is it a bad sign or not really that significant? problem. Being a typical girl i dont know much about cars so i would like the opinion of someone who does please!
For some reason Japanese cars seam to be very prone to rusting on the engine nuts and bolts. I don't know if its because they are cheap or low quality. If the car had been in a river or flood there would be evidence on the inside of the car, so if I was you try lifting the carpets to see if there is any water marks.
To be on the safe side I would get an HPI check done on the car to ensure it was not an insurance right off.
If all that comes clean don't be put off by the rust as it has not effect on the cars performance.
