Rosemount Golf Course

VW Rabbit Golf 1991/1993 or Suzuki Jimny 1998?

In the market for either of these used cars. Which would be the better decision, and why?
I'm worried about the soft-top on the VW, but equally about the Jimny being cheaply made and so that it will break down.
Please help!

Even though older the VW is a much better built and more reliable car.
It should also retain more value.
Just look on the road, plenty of older VWs -- but Suzukis? They don't last long enough to get old.
The "suzi" is usually mechanically OK but poor quality in other aspects.
