What are the advanteges of ceramic vs semi metalic brake pads vs preformnce compound brake pads?

What do you prefer and why?

I have used ebc and hawks I like each of them for different reasons and also discovered that many state they are both semi metallic but the better company and materials preformed noticeably better, the hawk hps stopped me fast enough I could black out from the gs, the ebc had good grip when you really went down on them and ceramics reacted quickly but braked like a standard oem semi metallic.
My favorites became

3 yellowstuff for track based street legal cars
4 ebc ultimax for good oem replacment with good stopping that feels preformnce car oriented but isnt
5 oem ceramics and semi metalics depnding on the car
Help me understand why I might use each one and why you mgiht use one and why you like the way it brakes?

Hawk HPS brake pads are made of Ferro-Carbon. EBC Red is No steel - Ceramic & Kevlar. EBC Ultimax website gives no indication of what they're made of.

If you carefully weigh all things considered EBC Red is the cleanest, does the least amount of damage to rotors and stopping ability is better than any OEM pad.

Presently I'm trying a set of Bendix CQ.3 Ceramic pads with EBC slotted and dimpled rotors. Inside each rotor box there was a warning that said you'd hear an airplane propeller sound while the pads broke in. They sure were right! Apparently the slots cause this. The sound greatly decreased after break in.

For the first 500 miles I noticed a lot of brake dust while the pads burnished in. After the first 500 miles the aluminum wheels on the Grand Prix are squeaky clean. Braking power is somewhat better but requires a little more "leg" to stop. For the hell of it I may switch to the EBC Red's to see if petal pressure is less. I know you can buy Performance Friction at Auto Zone. From past experience on customers cars the Performance Friction pads stop well but they're somewhat dirty. I probably should have stuck to AC-Delco ceramic pads to begin with.
