is it a good decision to buy a certified pre-owned mercedes?

I am looking to buy a mercedes for under $20,000. I see that a few C-230's are in this range. I remember reading that mercedes certified cars are not as good as honda's and toyota's. i agree, but are certified merc's bad or just not as good as certified japanese cars. I wud like to hear from someone who owns a certified merc. thanks.

" as good as" is subject to interpretation. If you want a car that goes from point A to point B with no feel just a machine doing it's job then Japanese cars are great. If you look for a little more feel in your ride then go German. The C class is a solid car but it will cost more to maintain than a Honda or Toyota. That does not make it better or worse just different.
