American military transportation vehicle in World War II called "Sanker" or "Sancar"?

I didn't find this word "Sanker" in the WWW. I have to correct a manuscript and I think there is a mistake with this word "Sanker".

When the American Troops liberated Germany from the Nazis, they transported many German refugees in spring 1945 into special refugee camps, especially those who escaped over the river Elbe to flee from the advancing Russian troops. The transports of the refugees were managed by the American Army with vehicles called "Sanker"s.
Does somebody know here a word for an American military truck or vehicle called "Sanker" "Sancar" or something like that?

Was it used anywhere else in another context? I have never heard this term for any WWII transport vehicle.

It may be possible that the term is a German word or nickname for one of our vehicles.
