baby movement sensor pad??

I got my son a movement sensor pad thing, and i was wondering if he was to stop breathing because of SIDS and the alarm went off would he be able to start breathing if i got to him in time?? the alarm sounds 15-20 seconds after it doesn't feel any movement.
yeah i don't smoke around him, i didn't breast feed, which i regret not doing.. i am pretty much doing everything to prevent it.
