What would cause a cell phone battery to go dead within a few hours after being charged?

I have a motorola v220 that I ebayed not too long ago. I got with it two batteries, one the OEM and another a new spare. having done a complete charge and discharge on both, the batteries are still going dead within a few hours. I noticed that the phone's battery back and key pad are unusually warm to the touch. Any ideas of what is causing this?

its going bad theres no way to reverse it call motorola and tell them chances are they wont replace it but you never know
