Bringing The Track To The All New 2010 Porsche Boxster 2.9L H-6 Engine

A power plant designed to unleash adrenaline, a 255 horsepower racing machine from the legendary luxury race car manufacturer Porsche, will make going from start to stop a pleasure every time. With the introduction of the 2010 Porsche Boxster, driving enthusiasts can celebrate the release of a fine car with an engine to leave the competition behind.

The Boxster engine offers a 2.9 liter, 255 horsepower flat six cylinder engine with a double overhead cam, variable valve timing, and four valves for cylinder. Converting 214 ft-lbs of torque at 5000 rpm to the rear-wheel drives is Porsches' performance transmission. These power boosts give every race junky the option to gun it and get ahead of the competition. If 255 horsepower isn't enough, upgrading to the Boxster S includes a 3.4 liter engine that produces 310 horsepower. The spider's increased power give it the edge right off the start.

The 2010 Boxster is over 170 pounds lighter than the 2009 model, resulting in improved times on the track. The sporty Boxster's top speed is 163 mph, and will speed from 0 to 60 in 5.3 seconds, all with a manual transmission. The Spider's top speed is 170 mph and it can zoom from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds.

The sports cars transmission comes in manual or automatic versions and some race enthusiasts will enjoy the optional seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission. The value of the seventh speed allows highway drivers to save as much as 11% on fuel economy, but Porsche also offers emissions upgrades to make the Boxster sound better than competition too.

Surprisingly, these cars are fairly fuel efficient at 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway with the seven speed transmission. But, these cars require premium fuel in the expansive 16.9 gallon fuel tank.
