On a vauxhall combo engine ,,part of the kit,and water pump are the weak points,not the belt.Is this correct?
I have been told that it is not the cambelt that goes on the engine,but its wheels,part of the kit,also the water pump plays a part as well.I have just bought a combo van,told the belt was fitted recent,but since been told that a belt alone means little,unlike and Escort engine,its the wheels and water pump that are the important parts here.Should any of them go,its more or less the end of the engine I understand,if its not very new.

The belt, rollers, tensioner and the water pump are all prone to failure if not changed at the same time as the belt should be changed - this is the usual way to do it. It is not common to do the water pump at the same time but it is advisable.
