The Nissan North America, Inc. has officially launched it most recent addition to the legendary Z sports car clan. The automaker has proudly pulled the wraps off the all-new NISMO 350Z at the much-concluded New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).

NISMO is one of the leading providers of high-performance aftermarket parts and accessories for Nissan vehicles worldwide. This new NISMO 350Z is the fifth in this year's 350Z Coupe lineup. The car features a comprehensively developed list of unique equipment such as the special body package and enhanced handling equipment. The vehicle is set to go on sale in July this year at Nissan dealers nationwide.

The most captivating visual feature of the NISMO 350Z is the aerodynamics package. The car is specially designed to resemble the Super GT championship winning ZÒs. Moreover, the NISMO 350Z features an aggressive front fascia mated to chin spoiler and side skirts. It is also given an extended rear fascia with underbody diffuser and a rear wing to blend well with its powerful stance. The NISMO 350Z delivers additional aerodynamic downforce to offer enhanced cornering and handling capabilities.

Worth-noting extra performance features of the sports car include a special NISMO-tuned independent multi-link suspension, Brembo brakes with four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers, Nissan release bearings, and distinct NISMO-branded gunmetal gray RAYS super lightweight forged-alloy wheels. To further boost the performance of the car, a NISMO-branded tuned exhaust is integrated to the car to deliver an even more reliable tone to the ZÒ's V6 engine.

The NISMO 350Z package also includes full complement standard features like the new VQ35HR 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 306 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. Aside from the powerful engine, it is also offering a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission, the Traction Control System (TCS) and the Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD).

Other standard equipment includes cruise control, a HomeLink Universal Transceiver, aluminum pedals, an auto dimming rearview mirror, illuminated steering wheel audio controls, power windows, 3-bay gauge cluster, LED taillights, High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-xenon (high and low beam) headlights, the Advanced Air Bag System, side and curtain side-impact supplemental air bags and Active Head Restraints.

Inside the exceptional sports car is a pampering ergonomics with unique black cloth seats with red inserts, special NISMO white-faced tachometer, and red stitching throughout the interior. The automaker includes the NISMO-etched aluminum plaque mounted on the center console to all NISMO 350Zs and designating its limited edition standing.

"The combination of aerodynamic enhancements and performance tuning adds up to a Z® with enhanced cornering, steering precision and handling," said Bill Bosley, the vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA).

Bosley added, "The NISMO 350Z is the ideal package for true enthusiasts - adding a high level of aesthetic and performance enhancing equipment not available in the aftermarket - while retaining the reliability, durability, and comprehensive warranty found standard on every 2007 Nissan 350Z."

Gtr the Legend is Real

In 1952, a Japanese company “Prince Motor Company”, which was a former firm producing Zero Fighter warplanes, generated a Skyline vehicle.  After that, Nissan took over it and developed as Nissan Skyline, the topmost car of Nissan.  Since that day, Skyline has retained image and prestige of its position perpetually which the best car is Skyline GTR.  However, Nissan still needs to shift Nissan Skyline and the easy way is to use the name of such topmost car “Skyline” (Skyline GTR) but “Skyline” is deleted, therefore, it becomes GTR finally.

Design

If talking about Nissan “Skyline”, an outstanding external appearance is a facet since the first model of Nissan brand to R34 code.  However, V35 and V36 code begins to show its curve but there is a feeling that Skyline with “V’ code does not have spirit of Skyline much.

Although GTR with R35 code is designed to be modern and different from R code of past Skyline, it has lines around the car telling its own origin and pedigree which is “facet lines”.  However, its facet makes drivers feel that it might be constructed from work hard for aerodynamic design because this facet seems to facilitate air flow more as if it uses every tiny air to increase its efficiency.  Especially, “these facet lines” still make GTR brutal in every aspect such as its air intake emphasizing “one stop air intake” like a front side to extract heat to a big point.  Moreover, a side air intake is like a gill which is continuous line from front fender.

On the back side, there is an air intake beneath the car or diffuser to increase a pressure of high speed driving.  It is flanked with double exhaust pipes.  A roof is designed to blow air to the back better with the curve roof called Aero Blade Canopy.  It seems to bring the air into a back spoiler and C curve antenna is also called Sword Edge but it is really looking good.  Of course, it is painted specially for GTR with high quality color, Double Clear Coat, tested by Anti-Chipping system to prevent scratch from little stones too.

Looking through inside the car, you could feel a sport driving (like a sport racing very much).  All devices support this professional driving, for instance, middle console tilting to driver, steering wheel with many control buttons which allows driver adjust many things without taking hands out from the steering wheel, compact seat and separate air conditioners for driver and another one.  Besides, a chunky gearshift still makes driver feel good and there is a Start button in the middle with noticeable red color.  The position of hand brake is placed for prompt use.  Seeing through the steering wheel, there is a large gauge in the middle of monitor with big red numbers at 7,000 rounds whereas there is a monitor showing distance and speed on the bottom.  On the left, you would see a hand showing speed up to 340 kms/hr and there is a big clear text to display the position of used gear on the right.  Additional, there are many buttons to control automatic air conditioners divided into right and left side as well as all premium stereos of Bose are equipped already.  Then, this is an important distinctive point because it is three-set button to pump up and down to adjust the driving for your emotion.  The left is used to control gear shift while the middle is used to control the smoothness of undercarriage as well as the right is used for vehicle dynamic control (VDC-R).  Such three-set button is recommended to adjust at “R” to enhance your driving excitement.  By the way, the huge monitor in the middle of console is not just a television absolutely because this is “GTR” touch screen to display several gauges as normal mode such as boot turbo, oil temperature, oil pressure, acceleration, start, pressure, brake, steering angle, table of gear shift, 3D G-Force gauge as statistics and other excellent options.

Engine

The 3.8-litre engine VR38DETT with 6 cylinders built in v-shape includes DOHC and twin turbo producing 480 hp at 6,800 rpm and 588 newton meter torque at 3,200-5,200 rpm.  Top speed is 311 km/hr while acceleration 0-96 km/hr is 3.5 seconds (vehicle weight 1,740 kgs.).  Even though the engine is very wonderful, Nissan gives precedence to environment by controlling the least exhaust (really very less) and it passes the Japanese standard of least exhaust called “U-LEV”.

Powertrain System

Moving the gear to the back could balance weight between front and back.  The prominent point is the two main shafts in the middle of chassis which is the new powertrain system of Nissan called Independent Transaxle 4WD.  As a result, all gears of GTR are moved to the back meanwhile there is a 4 wheel drive also.  Wow...

Furthermore, gear box is interesting too because GTR consists of Twin Clutch Sport Shift Transmission known as GR6-Type Dual-Clutch of BrogWarner (DualTronic) to control 6-gear shift system.  Just move it to “M” and then you could immediately control paddle shift installed behind the steering wheel.

Nevertheless, there are some complaints from GTR lovers that why there is no normal gear included and would it be enjoyable?  In spite of GTR comprises with gears which seem to be automatic, actually, it should be called the normal gear instead because you do not need to pedal the clutch.  If you want to go fastest as you want, there is no any technique, just accelerate tightly and see smoke from your hot wheels…!

Balance and Break

Materials technology integration is another important thing of balance and GTR uses light weight and strong materials like carbon-fiber and aluminium combined by high technology for confident balance when driving around a curve.  Additional, shock up system belongs to Bilstein DampTronic with front Monoblock of Brembo break in the front or break controller or 6-piston and 4-back with run-flat tires.

Safety

Car & Paint question..?

Would it hurt to paint my brake calipers??

I have red brembo brake calipers on my car.. They're a little scratched and I want to make them look nice again..

This is a stupid question but it is a question that I would like an answer for.. Thanks.

Won't hurt them. Just don't get paint on your rotors or brake pads. Spray them down with brake cleaner first so the paint will stick better.
