With its chic looks and cozy interiors the big monstrous car has attracted almost every Indian. In India, the SUV is available with two engines, a 2.0-litre i-VTEC that delivers 141 bhp and a 2.4-litre i-VTEC that stirs up 161 bhp. Then we also have other SUV cars in India like the Nissan X-Trail and Mitsubishi Pajero. But these haven't been strong contenders for the Honda CR-V. The Chevrolet Captiva, though, looks full of promises for the SUV fanatics in India.

When it comes to SUV cars, there cannot be anything like Mahindra and Tata. The two auto makers are leaders in the segment with an entire array of SUVs just right for the Indian crowd and the humpy bumpy roads in India. The Mahindra Scorpio for example, with its stylish boxy frame is enough proof to prove the success of an Indian car maker in the SUV segment. When this particular car made its entry it was a hit in no time and created a wave of gusto among the Indian professionals. The car has its own class.

The Tata Safari is another SUV that has earned wide popularity even in petite towns. Following the Safari's success, Tata Motors successfully uncovered the Sumo Grande at the Delhi Auto Expo which was again a great craze among the Indians. With its eye-catching features and spacious interiors, the Grande has certainly lived up to its grand name.

Next, we have the Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Tucson and the Ford Endeavour having their own place as stately vehicles in the minds of Indians and their car porches. The Volvo too, looking at the rest, finally launched its XC-90 for the class-loving SUV buyers. For those possessing an even higher exclusive taste, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, the BMW X5, the Audi Q7, and the Porsche Cayenne SUVs are going to suffice.

These three units are the Land Rover Discovery 3, the Land Rover Range Rover, and the Land Rover Range Rover Sport.

This is basically according to a recent article published in the Planet 4 x 4 magazine. The magazine did further say that the Land Rover is the king of all vehicles made for the off road. Furthermore, this crowning glory of Land Rover is all part of the magazine’s inaugural awards which are given out by the magazine each year. According to the magazine, the top three spots belonged to the three Land Rover vehicles: the Land Rover Range Rover TDV8, the Land Rover Discovery TDV6, and the Land Rover Range Rover Sport Supercharged. The Range Rover TDV8 also took home the Best Off Roader award. As per the Land Rover TDV6 Discovery 3, this one was able to grab the Large Off Roader category while the Large SUV award was given to the Range Rover Sport Supercharged. The latter also took home the Manufacturer of 2006 honor.

Of course, if you are thinking that Land Rover took home the top awards mainly because it was the only contingent in the mentioned awards, well you should think again. You see, the brand had to contend with other large and well known auto manufacturers like Nissan, BMW, Lexus, and Audi.

I have a 1999 land rover discovery 2 that need's power steering fluid and I am not sure if you have to use the Land rover fluid(part # LRN-2261) Or if I can use royal purple max-ez?

The Land Rover Discovery II had an option for 'active cornering enhancement'. If your Disco has this, the reservoir for your power steering will have two caps. If not, it will have one. It's very important to use the Land Rover fluid for both systems. You can not use generic power steering fluid from your local garage!
You risk seal damage and system failure which is not only dangerous but wil cost a lot more than the extra few quid you will pay for the proper stuff!
