After winning six AMA Superbike championships in six straight years, Suzuki's GSX-R 1000 still continues to evolve. In order to remain the top dog, Suzuki pushed through the GSX-R's evolution by coming up with a "clean sheet design" of its new engine. The design calls for more combustion efficiency for more torque and power and enhanced throttle response and a reduction of exhaust emissions.

To maximize combustion efficiency, the new 999cc engine came with a bigger bore and a shorter oversquare stroke. The new bore and stroke measuring 74.5 x 57.3mm (up from 73.4 x 59.0mm) corresponds to slower piston speeds at the 13,750 rpm limit. The new bores are also reshaped to increase compression ratio. Lighter titanium intake and exhaust valves on dual springs are also new revisions.

2003 yamaha R6- new rider.....help!?

i got a great deal on a 2003 yamaha R6, great condition, steering damper, full micron system, which sounds awesome! now, the problem being.....i'm going to be learning on. i tried to ride it today, and it was really tough! now, should i get rid of this bike for a smaller bike, like a ninja 250r? should just keep at it? or what? are all 600 bikes this difficult for beginners? any other thoughts on my dilemma would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

The bike you are talking about takes a great deal of skill to ride. The front forks are at a pretty steep agle making high speed wobble more common. That is why someone put a damper on it. I would recomend any begginer start with a Honda, Yamaha, or Suzuki 250. These were all designed for the begginer. The Kawasaki Ninja is still a sport bike. It has sport styling and an engine that produces peak power around 10,000-14,000 RPM. The down side of High RPM power is little to no power at idle. Making it require more skill to operate and good clutch skills a must. The cruisers are far more forgiving and have good off the line power. The begginer bikes mentioned, like the Honda Rebel, are easier to start, are not prone to front wheel wobble, and have more clutch material for begginers that are hard on clutches. They will also be cheaper to insure, get better gas milage, last longer, and still go over 70 MPH.
