Plymouth Motors was founded by Walter P. Chrysler in 1928. It was said the name Plymouth was formed to resemble freedom, endurance, strength and ruggedness. It was eventually called the Plymouth Motor Corporation. It became Chrysler's division which sold the lowest-priced cars. It generated some sales but even the low price wasn't able to save it from the aftermath of the Great Depression.
