Electrical wire and cable is a high volume item in the wire and cable field. This article discusses the THHN single conductor electrical wire, Romex and UF-B Cable (underground cable). Electrical wire can be used indoors or outdoors. Romex is only an indoor cable because the jacket doesn't have the ability to withstand rain, moisture and solvents.

Nowadays THHN is always dual rated THHN and THWN. A lot of electricians require the THWN for a specific job and the cost of adding that approval is minimal so it always has the dual rating. THHN wire is a 600 Volt PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) wire with a nylon coating for easy installation into conduit or tray. It's rated for 90°C and has UL approvals. It's made from soft drawn bare copper with only 19 copper strands to make sure it's stiff enough to push easily through conduit or tray.

Romex Wire is very similar because it's the THHN/THWN conductors with an over all PVC jacket so that you can send 2-3 conductors with a ground wire through conduit at once. Romex wire is only used indoors though, so if you need an outdoor / underground cable then you should see the UF-B Cable. It has a better jacket to withstand anything outdoors. The cost difference isn't that high when upgrading to UF-B so it's well worth it to make sure you're using the correct cable. Sometimes people will run Romex outdoors for a few feet but it definitely isn't worth it in the long run.

Dell Inspiron 1420 AC Adapter power supply repairing guide

If you are experienced enough to do such repairs, following the suggestions below will assist you in repairing the power jack on a Dell laptop.
1. Remove the wire from both the laptop and the outlet.
2. Cut the wire at any point beyond the damaged area so that you can make a clean cut. It is best to leave at least a few millimeters between the damaged area and the cut to ensure that there is no damage to the wires you are going to reconnect.
3. Desolder the power jack from your motherboard that you have already taken out from the laptop. Both the motherboard and the Dell Inspiron 1420 AC Adapter jack have to be cleaned properly and then soldered again.
4. Carefully start to cut the outer plastic of both ends of the cut wire about a centimeter from the end. Do this gently as you do not want to cut the wires wrapped around the inner insulation. Remove the excess plastic.
5. Move the wrapped wires out of the way, and gently cut the inner insulating plastic only a few millimeters from the end. You will only need a tiny bit of exposed cord for this inner wire.
6. Hold the Dell ac adapter power jack and carefully remove from the motherboard. When the power jack is successfully removed, clean the oxidized contacts with a sharp metal object. Apply a coat of solder to the contacts. Clean the Dell Inspiron 1420 AC Adapter jack, and place the solders to all sides of the motherboard.
7. Secure the entire connection with a complete wrap of electrical tape, and test your connection.

Why does my linksys usb wireless adapter constantly disconnect when under load?

I have been using a linksys wire usb adapter for over 2 years now and in the last 3 weeks it has suddenly started disconnectingwhen i try to download large files or watch the iplayer etc. Thinking it may have been a windows update i installed the latest version of Suse Linux but encountered the same problem.

The connection will remain active as long as i only surf small sites or don't use the network to move files.

My guess is it disconnects over a period of inactivity on the web. I bet that if you were to go to a website and just leave it for the amount of time it takes you to download those large files your internet will disconnect. It could be part of the whole minutes plan or just saving electricity, whatever the cause be. If the results are true, then keep surfing the web as you download those large files, smaller sites recommended to maintain a good download speed.
